The table compares the changes in sales of two Fairtrade-labelled goods (coffee and bananas) in five European countries between 1999 and 2004. Units are measured in millions of euros.
Overall, sales of both items increased for most of the countries over the period. Also, UK and Switzerland have the highest sales out of 5 countries.
Regarding turnover from coffee, Switzerland has the highest number in 1999 of 3 millions euros, which doubled over a period of 4 years. In comparison, sales of coffee in UK was only 1.5 millions euros in 1999 before increasing dramatically to 20 millions in 2004, becoming the nation with highest sales that year. In addition, turnover from coffee in Denmark, Belgium, Sweden rose slightly by just over 1 millions combined.
On the other hand, sales of bananas in Switzerland were highest of all 5 countries in both years, which experienced a considerable increase of more than 30 millions euros between 1999 and 2004. Similarly, turnover from bananas rose from 1 million euros to 5.5 millions between the two years, while the number for Sweden increased by 3.4 millions euros at 15 and 47 millions euros in the last year. In contrast, sales of bananas in the remaining countries decreased slightly by around 2 millions euros in total.
